WEDDING couples have been told that The Gower Hotel in Bishopston, Swansea, may not be able to hold their functions and are now demanding answers.…
All of the brides-to-be who have been in touch with the Evening Post, have not been warned by the hotel itself, but by third parties or wedding suppliers.
The hotel is a popular choice for newly engaged couples in Wales. It operates under the name So To Bed Hotels Ltd.
The venue also contained restaurant, Dylan’s, which is well known in the area for the quality of its food.
A few brides have been in contact with the South Wales Evening Post and spoken of their dismay of hearing the venue might be having problems.
Claire Phillips heard the news today and said: “We have unofficially heard…myself and my partner booked the venue and went to pay our deposit in November for our forthcoming wedding in April 2018”
She said she knew there must be other brides whose weddings were far sooner.
“As far as we are concerned we have had a lucky escape as we have so far only parted with part of our deposit…I feel for the couples who were set to marry there this year who would potentially have parted with thousands and may now have no venue.”
Another bride-to-be got in touch, but asked to remain anonymous:
“My wedding was not until October 2017 and luckily we have wedding insurance…I just feel for the brides who didn’t take out insurance.”
The Evening Post has made attempts to get in touch with The Gower Hotel, but they are yet to comment or reply.
The Gower Hotel website has apparently been taken down and the twitter account has disappeared. A reporter also made an attempt to visit the hotel, but found the venue was locked and empty.
